With more than seventy million cumulative streams across major music platforms—Spotify, Amazon Music, among others—Miguel Pérez (Málaga, 1976) has established himself in recent years as one of the most widely recognised figures in contemporary neoclassical minimalist music. Among other recent milestones, his music has been selected on three occasions for the prestigious Peaceful Piano playlist on Spotify.
His first contact with music took place in the Youth Wind Band of Miraflores and Gibraljaire Schools in Málaga, an ensemble to which he dedicated his earliest compositions, particularly those written for Holy Week in Málaga, an area in which his work holds a fundamental place. He later graduated from the Málaga Conservatory of Music, where he obtained qualifications as Professor of Solfège, Music Theory, Transposition and Accompaniment, as well as a Higher Degree in Tuba Performance.
Since 1990, he has developed an intense compositional activity across a wide range of formats, with works published and premiered internationally, encompassing music for radio, television, cinema and all kinds of productions. In parallel, he has released numerous recordings of his original music, with particular emphasis on works written for his instrument of choice: the piano.
Based in the Canary Islands since 2007, and after more than thirty-six years fully devoted to composition and performance in their most personal sense, in 2023 he signed with the international label Snafu Records, based in Stockholm and currently responsible for the management of his entire digital catalogue. He currently combines this new creative stage with teaching, serving as Head of the Music Department at IES Santo Tomás de Aquino on the island of Fuerteventura.
